Miami, FL — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released a video message ahead of the 20th anniversary of the horrific, radical Islamic terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001.

A broadcast quality video is available HERE.

This year marks two decades since radical Islamic terrorists launched coordinated and horrific attacks on America, stealing 2,997 lives and shattering countless more.

September 11, 2001 was one of the darkest days in American history, and it changed our nation forever.

But today, we pause to remember the first responders who rushed into falling buildings and the veterans who courageously risked their lives. Without hesitation, these heroic men and women answered the call to defend their fellow civilians.

They highlighted the inherent good of our country — a selfless dedication to neighbors, complete strangers, and to the country.

We cannot allow their memory to fade. Not only must we follow their example, we must also fight for them as hard as they fought for us.

Across our country, many of them are struggling with illness because of the trauma they faced 20 years ago.

Now, it is on us to ensure that our first responders are cared for, and that our veterans are cared for, and that we will forever be grateful for the valor and sacrifices they made.

May we never forget what each and every one of our first responders and veterans risked that day. And may we ensure that those who still bear the wounds of their heroism on September 11, 2001 — whether physical, mental, or otherwise — receive the care they need.

Thank you to those who took that risk and thank you to those who continue to support them every day.

May God bless you.
