In Case You Missed It, Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) toured Aqua Metals’ brand new Innovation Center in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center (TRIC), highlighting Nevada’s growing clean energy economy and the new jobs coming to the region.

Senator Cortez Masto has been a champion for renewable and clean energy since first arriving in the Senate. Through her Innovation State Initiative, she has positioned Nevada to lead the rest of the country into the clean energy future. Cortez Masto led the fight for key tax credits to help tackle climate change and create Nevada jobs, wrote the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s provisions to promote Nevada’s mining and emerging battery industries and set up a sustainable critical mineral supply chain, and is bringing good-paying clean energy jobs to Nevadans across the state.

KOLO: Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto visits battery recycling company

Senator Catherine Cortez Masto visited Aqua Metals Monday to spotlight new clean energy jobs and their work in battery recycling.

“They’re pioneers in this new technology,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “As we look at electric vehicles and electric batteries and recycling and where we get the critical minerals that we need for that electrification that is going to reduce that carbon footprint.”

Aqua Metals’ Innovation Center can be found just off USA Parkway. They recycle lithium-ion batteries using a process called Aquarefining.

KRNV: Sen. Cortez Masto tours clean battery recycling innovation lab at Aqua Metals

Senator Catherine Cortez Masto toured the Innovation Lab at Aqua Metals just outside of Sparks on Monday to learn about their unique methods of sustainable battery recycling.

Aqua Metals is taking used lithium ion batteries, recycling them, taking the pure metals out, and using the pure metals to create new batteries. It’s a closed loop system powered by electricity and according to Aqua Metals, its the cleanest metal recycling system on the market, capable of producing the world’s purest metals.

Senator Cortez Masto says the Innovation Lab’s work is an opportunity for Nevada to lead the country when it comes to clean energy, while also providing good paying jobs.

“These are the types of companies in Nevada that are really putting Nevada on the map as the Innovation State, and I’m very excited about it,” she said.
