Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) cosponsored the bipartisan renewal of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) introduced by Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Joni Ernst (R-IA).
“I’m proud to cosponsor the bipartisan Violence Against Women Act which is an overdue renewal of protections for women and girls in America. This critical legislation makes necessary changes to the law that will protect our sisters, daughters and neighbors from abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault and a host of other issues that impact women across the globe. I am proud my colleagues on both sides of the aisle were able to come together to find a bipartisan path forward on this important bill, and I applaud their efforts to bring this legislation to the entire Senate. I look forward to voting for this legislation and seeing President Biden sign it into law soon.”
