Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $340,206 from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) for four projects across West Virginia. The funding will support upgrades to local lighting infrastructure in Charleston, the design of a multistate career pathways system, youth leadership training in sciences and equipment improvements in the McDowell County Renaissance Village.
“The Appalachian Regional Commission’s continued investment in revitalizing and strengthening Appalachia is great news for our state and the entire region. The funding announced today will support youth leadership training, career development opportunities and upgrades to local infrastructure in Charleston and the Renaissance Village in McDowell County, which I visited this month,” said Senator Manchin. “Investing in our local communities creates good-paying jobs and spurs economic opportunity. I look forward to seeing the positive impacts of these projects for the Mountain State.”
