Charleston, WV – Yesterday, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) toured transportation infrastructure projects in Kanawha County. Manchin took part in a bridge assessment with the West Virginia Department of Highways, toured the Marmet Locks and Dam, reviewed the progress on the Charleston Amtrak Station platform project and was briefed on the various projects under construction at Charleston’s Yeager Airport.
“Yesterday’s tour was an important opportunity to highlight the infrastructure needs facing West Virginia,” said Senator Manchin. “The bipartisan infrastructure proposal would be a historic investment in our critical infrastructure needs to rebuild our roads, bridges, dams and rail systems. It would also make unprecedented investments in our nation’s broadband infrastructure to finally connect every West Virginia home. These projects will create jobs right here in West Virginia without raising taxes. I’ll continue working to get this bipartisan infrastructure proposal across the finish line and finally address West Virginia’s infrastructure needs.”
