[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today met with Cook County officials to discuss how local leaders are putting American Rescue Plan Act resources to work for Illinois families in Cook County. They also discussed how resources included in proposals such as the Senate-passed Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and the upcoming budget bill can support the county and its residents. Duckworth met with Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, Cook County Health CEO Dr. Israel Rocha, Jr., Cook County Deputy Chief of Staff Otis Story and Cook County Health Executive Director Letitia Close.
“We know our local governments have been hurting from the economic impacts of COVID-19,” Duckworth said. “As a result of Democrats’ efforts to Pass President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, local governments like Cook County have received critical federal funding. I’ll keep working to ensure we get a comprehensive infrastructure plan signed into law to bring even more support to Illinoisans in Cook County and beyond.”
Cook County received $1,000,372,385 in funding through the American Rescue Plan. Illinois is also expected to receive at least $17 billion in infrastructure funding if IIJA becomes law.
