WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven helped introduce bicameral legislation, led in the Senate by Senator Mike Braun (R-Ind.), to disapprove and nullify President Biden’s vaccine mandate on private employees under the Congressional Review Act (CRA), the official process for Congress to eliminate an executive branch rule. President Biden’s mandate requires employees at private businesses with more than 100 employees to be vaccinated or tested on a weekly basis. The rule is estimated to affect more than 80 million Americans and imposes $14,000 fines for persons who do not comply.

“President Biden’s vaccine mandate is government overreach,” said Hoeven. “Our nation is already facing a workforce shortage, and this mandate will exacerbate this situation while also infringing on the rights of Americans.”

In addition to Hoeven and Braun, the legislation is cosponsored by Senators Kevin Cramer, Dan Sullivan, Bill Hagerty, Roger Marshall, Mike Lee, James Lankford, Rick Scott, Marsha Blackburn, Rand Paul, Cynthia Lummis, Shelley Moore Capito, Marco Rubio, John Barrasso, Cindy Hyde-Smith, John Thune, Jerry Moran, Roger Wicker, Richard Burr, Mike Rounds, Pat Toomey, Tommy Tuberville, James Risch, Mike Crapo, Ted Cruz, Tom Cotton, Joni Ernst, Josh Hawley, John Boozman, Jim Inhofe, Chuck Grassley, Todd Young, John Kennedy, Ron Johnson, Ben Sasse. Steve Daines, Deb Fischer, Lindsey Graham, Thom Tillis and John Cornyn. A companion to the bill has been introduced in the House of Representatives by Congressman Fred Keller (R-Penn.).
