WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Defense Appropriations Committee, today announced that the 319th Reconnaissance Wing at the Grand Forks Air Force Base (GFAFB) has received the Air Force’s Meritorious Unit Award. This award recognizes the exceptional service performed from June 1, 2019 to May 31, 2021, including support for the missions of U.S. Armed Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan and the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions across 1 million square miles.
“The Grand Forks Air Force Base is vital to our national security and plays an integral role in global missions,” said Hoeven. “This award is very well deserved and honors the significant advancements in technology, unmanned aviation and ISR at GFAFB as the airmen and women work tirelessly to protect our country. That’s why it’s important we continue working to make upgrades and modernize our forces.”
The 319th Reconnaissance Wing has earned the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award eight times previously as the 319th Air Refueling Wing, twice as the 319th Air Base Wing, and once as the 319th Reconnaissance Wing.
