WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker (both D-N.J.) today announced that Greater Bergen Community Action was awarded $4,666,483 to support its early childhood education program. The award was granted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

“Every child in New Jersey, regardless of which zip code they live in, deserves the opportunity for quality, early childhood education in order to reach their full potential in school and beyond,” said Sen. Menendez. “The Head Start program is one of the best proven investments we can make for our children. This funding will ensure that kids across Bergen County will have the necessary care and resources to be successful.”

“One of the best ways we can prepare our children for success is by providing them with access to quality early education programs,” said Sen. Booker. “This funding will support our children in New Jersey and help them meet their full potential.”

Greater Bergen Community Action is a non-profit organization that serves as Bergen County’s federally designated anti-poverty agency. The organization helps provide meals, healthcare and education to children and families in need.

The investment is expected to increase the number of families whose children are supported by the Head Start program, allow the partnership to further cater to each child’s needs, and to further diversify current programs.
