WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure, announced North Dakota received $45,000,000 in Bridge Formula Program funding from the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

“The bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is bringing real results to North Dakota. When we wrote the bill, my top priority was making sure the bulk of the money was delivered via formula rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. This historic funding gives North Dakota the flexibility to make investments that work for us and helps ensure every driver is operating on safe roads, bridges, and highways,” said Senator Cramer.

Background:

Created by the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the Bridge Replacement, Rehabilitation, Preservation, Protection, and Construction Program (Bridge Formula Program) was launched in January 2022. It is the single largest dedicated bridge investment since the construction of the interstate highway system and will provide North Dakota with $225 million over a five-year period to support bridge improvements. The state received $45 million in Fiscal Year 2022. The funding is allocated through a formula, ensuring smaller population states with higher transportation activities receive the funding they need. North Dakota currently has 444 bridges in poor condition, according to the 2020 National Bridge Inventory. Learn more here.
