WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) issued the following statement after being named a 2022 Clean Energy Champion by the Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES):

“It is an honor to be recognized as one of the Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions’ Clean Energy Champions for 2022. From our carbon capture projects to the production of carbon negative oil, North Dakota is a leader in clean energy technology and innovation, producing responsible and reliable energy today and for the future. Every day, I aim to make Washington more like North Dakota and CRES has been a great partner along the way. I look forward to our continued partnership, unapologetically promoting clean, reliable American energy solutions for the world.”

The four 2022 awardees—Senators Cramer and Dan Sullivan (R-AK) and Representatives Dan Newhouse (R-WA) and Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA)—were formally recognized at the CRES Clean Energy Champions Reception yesterday evening, the second day of National Clean Energy Week (NCEW)

“Congratulations to Sen. Kevin Cramer on his well-deserved recognition as a 2022 Clean Energy Champion,” said Heather Reams, president of Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions. “Sen. Cramer has been a leader in calling for commonsense reforms to regulatory obstacles that prohibit domestic energy production and was critical in crafting the Republican-led climate initiative—American Energy, Jobs, and Climate Plan. CRES is excited to continue collaborating with Sen. Cramer as we work to advance clean energy innovation and technologies in North Dakota and throughout the U.S. that will strengthen America’s global leadership.”

CRES annually honors Republican leaders who have gone above and beyond in driving and supporting clean energy legislation. In addition to his leadership in crafting the American Energy, Jobs, and Climate Plan, Senator Cramer has called for commonsense reforms to regulatory obstacles, such as legislation to improve the quality and timeliness of federal permitting and review processes with respect to critical mineral production on federal land. Recently, he supported the Congressional Review Act of the Biden Administration’s National Environmental Policy Act Rule.
