U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today released the following statement on the anniversary of Ukraine’s independence from the Soviet Union and six-month anniversary of Russia’s further invasion of Ukraine:

“The 31st anniversary of Ukraine’s independence from the Soviet Union also marks six months to the day since Putin ordered his heinous attempt to seize all of Ukraine. He has failed, due to the resilience of the Ukrainian people, their resolve to defend their territory and the military support the U.S. and our allies and partners around the globe have continued to supply to sustain their fight. We must remain united in this cause to show Putin — and the world  that we will not accept his attempts to use force to redraw Russia’s borders.

“I call upon President Biden, as well as our allies and partners, to do everything we can to help Ukraine beat back the Russian invaders, and to do more to share the burden of our collective defense and bolster our deterrence of Russia, China and all other threats to the transatlantic community.”
