U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) today voted in opposition to H.R.4346, the CHIPS-Plus Act, a bill promoting legislation previously included within the U.S. Innovation and Competition Act, because it excludes adequate funding for defense:

“While I will always support increasing American competitiveness, this bill boosting funding for the American semiconductor manufacturing sector all but ignores our top priority when it comes to competition with China: our military. In order to send the strongest signal possible to China, the U.S. must be a champion of technological innovation, domestic manufacturing and our national defense. The CHIPS-Plus Act all but ignores the expertise resident in the Department of Defense related to advanced technology, innovation, research security, and counterintelligence.”
