WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) on Thursday released the following statement after Senate Republicans blocked consideration of the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act:

“After the tragedies in Buffalo, Laguna Woods, and Uvalde, this was an opportunity to begin the debate on how to respond. We missed that chance today, but it’s not the end. I’m going to work my hardest over the next week and a half to get to a compromise with my Republican colleagues. But even if we can’t get there, those who disagree with 80 percent of Americans about commonsense reforms will have to go on the record about where they stand. Inaction cannot – and will not – be our answer,” said Murphy.
