WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) discussed the future of the Republican party and the Biden Administration’s disastrous energy policy on Fox Business’ Kudlow. Excerpts and full video are below.
On Future of the Republican Party:
“The Trump doctrine matters. Donald Trump tapped into something really important that Americans care about: an America First form of conservatism and an America First form of trade. I’d love four more years with Donald Trump as well.”
“I also have a lot of friends and know a lot of people who want the Donald Trump face back because they want that same fighting spirit. But whatever the field looks like, they better be prepared to articulate an America First Trump doctrine. If they don’t, they are missing what’s been going on in this country and what’s been going on in the Republican Party for the last several years.
“I submit that you and I probably felt a little bit differently about international trade 5, 6, or 7 years ago than we do now or globalizing the economy or America’s role in foreign policing efforts. Donald Trump did not just tap into something Americans feel, he educated us on what our priorities ought to be. I respect him for that and I appreciate that. That’s still where America is and still where our party is. If you want to be the President of the United States or United States Senator, Congressman, or Governor, you better understand that.”
On the Biden Administration’s Energy Policy:
“If people believed [what Secretary Granholm espoused], Joe Biden wouldn’t have a 26% approval rating today. The problem with this Administration is they never learned from their own mistakes. Either they believe their own rhetoric or they resign themselves to losing in November and they want to do as much damage as they can before we get there.”
“Words matter. Larry, you and Kevin [Hassett] were talking about markets. Markets respond to politics, geopolitics, consumer confidence, investor confidence, taxes, and regulations. If you have a tax increase, regulation increase Administration talking like this, markets have to respond to that. [The Biden Administration is] still in charge and they will be in the White House for the next couple of years. So these are significant words. Sometimes I like to think that maybe she’s just ignorant. She has said so many crazy things, quite honestly, but I’m afraid they kind of believe it.”
“How about when you push this [environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG)] nonsense on the [Securities and Exchange Commission], the Federal Reserve, the Comptroller of the Currency, [U.S. Department of Agriculture], and every chamber, every administrative agency and subagency? They’re all pushing the same narrative – that has a chilling effect on investment.”
