WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) issued the statement below on the death of former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright:

“This is an immeasurable loss. Secretary Madeleine Albright was a force of nature. I had the privilege of getting to know her over the years, and I always admired her as a stateswoman and a trailblazer.

“Secretary Albright used diplomacy to advance American interests, protect human rights, and promote democracy around the world. From her leadership in bolstering our NATO alliance to her more recent defense of Ukraine’s sovereignty, her impact lives on through the strength of our transatlantic relationships—which have never been more crucial.

“While she will always be remembered for her leadership on the world stage, Secretary Albright’s greatest, most enduring legacy may be the generations of women, immigrants, and refugees whom she inspired to take up the torch of public service.

“John and I are keeping Secretary Albright’s family and friends in our prayers.”
