WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) announced that she invited eleven-year old Maddi Morgan as her guest to the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing to consider the nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. Maddi, a sixth grader living in Washington D.C., wrote a letter last month to President Biden asking to be considered as a nominee for the Supreme Court.
“As her letter to President Biden shows, Maddi is clearly a talented and persuasive young woman with a bright future ahead of her,” said Klobuchar. “I am excited to invite Maddi as my guest for these historic hearings, and look forward to the day when Maddi will be appearing at her own Supreme Court nomination hearing.”
“If I’m going to be snubbed, it couldn’t be for a better candidate,” said Maddi Morgan. “Thank you Senator Klobuchar for inviting me, I’ll remember this 50 years from now.”
Klobuchar had a chance encounter with Maddi and her father, Tony, on a stroll around Capitol Hill last month. Upon hearing the story of Maddi’s letter, Klobuchar promptly invited her to attend the Supreme Court nomination hearings.
In her letter to President Biden, Maddi wrote: “I would like to be a part of the Supreme Court…children don’t have a voice in this country and even if I could give them a small one and for them to be represented, that will do.”
“Now of course, I will respect your decision either way…but I will ask you to seriously consider this,” Maddi continued. “I live a few blocks away from the Supreme Court so it will be easy to get there.”
