WASHINGTON (Feb. 7, 2022) – Today, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) released a New Mexico guide to the formula and competitive funding opportunities provided through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Signed into law by President Joe Biden in November 2021, this once-in-a-generation investment will deliver at least $3.7 billion to New Mexico in formula funding, in addition to the opportunity to apply for large amounts of competitive funding.
The comprehensive guide provides information about Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act funded programs and opportunities available through the Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Interior, U.S. Department of Transportation, Environmental Protection Agency, and Federal Communications Commission.
“With the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, we now have an unprecedented opportunity to reshape our state’s infrastructure competitiveness,” said Heinrich. “If we can all work together to make the most out of these historic infrastructure investments, all of New Mexico will emerge from this moment in a stronger competitive position than we have ever been in. I am committed to making sure New Mexico receives the maximum amount of competitive funding possible to help us bring our state’s infrastructure into the 21st century, level the playing field for all New Mexicans, and create a tremendous number of good-paying, union jobs to do it.”
This transformative funding will go directly towards building new roads and bridges, improving clean water infrastructure, install a new electric vehicle charging network, making overdue improvements to New Mexico’s airports, and connecting many more New Mexicans to affordable, high-speed internet.

The Biden administration also released a new guide to help communities navigate all of the historic investments under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that is available at www.build.gov.
