Senator Debbie Stabenow released the following statement on the Biden Administration’s announcement that people enrolled in either Original Medicare or Medicare Advantage will be able to get over-the-counter COVID-19 tests at no cost starting in early spring. On January 24, Senator Stabenow led her Senate colleagues in urging the Biden Administration to ensure that people on Medicare have access to free COVID-19 tests.
“This is important news that will make a big difference in keeping people safe. Last week, I led my Senate colleagues in urging the Biden Administration to cover free over-the-counter COVID-19 tests for people on Medicare. Because of our work, now the millions of Americans on Medicare will be able to receive free rapid COVID-19 tests. I appreciate the Biden Administration stepping up to work with us on this important development.”
Medicare will pay for up to eight free at-home tests per month, in addition to free testing already made available through covidtests.gov, testing sites, and other locations. For more information, click here.
