WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Office of Justice Programs (OJP) has awarded the City of Cleveland a $500,000 grant to fund the Cleveland Real Time Crime Center Initiative through “Operation Legend”. These funds will allow Cleveland to fund overtime and technology costs associated with the crime center initiative and support the city’s task force to reduce violent crime.

“Safe communities depend on well-trained and equipped law enforcement officers,” Brown said. “This grant is a critical investment to provide essential resources for the men and women who devote their lives to protecting Cleveland.”

Operation Legend was launched in 2020 and is a coordinated law enforcement initiative across all federal law enforcement agencies, working in conjunction with state and local law enforcement officials, to fight violent crime in America’s cities.
