WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the United States Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded four grants to airports in southeast Ohio, totaling $155,000 for operations, personnel, cleaning, sanitization, janitorial services, debt service payments, and combating the spread of pathogens at the airports. These funds are made possible through the American Rescue Plan, which Brown helped write and pass.
“Ohio airports are vital infrastructure supporting travel and commerce in our state,” said Brown. “These investments will provide Southeast Ohio airports with the resources they need to ensure the safety of their passengers and support the local economy.”
FAA funds include:
- $59,000 grant to Ohio University for the Ohio University Airport.
- $32,000 grant to Board of Commissioners of Ross County for the Ross County Airport.
- $32,000 grant to Coshocton County Regional Airport Authority & County Commissioners for the Richard Downing Airport.
- $32,000 grant to Carroll County Commissioners & Carroll County Airport Authority for Carroll County-Tolson Airport.
The FAA supports public-use airports included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) through the Airport Improvement Program. The program supports projects that improve airport safety, capacity, security and environmental impact. More information about the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program can be found here.
