WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the United States Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded four grants to airports in Northwest Ohio, totaling $2,134,092 for operations, personnel, cleaning, sanitization, janitorial services, debt service payments, and combating the spread of pathogens at the airport. These funds are made possible through the American Rescue Plan, which Brown helped write and pass.
“Ohio airports are vital infrastructure supporting travel and commerce in our state,” said Brown. “These investments will provide Northwest Ohio airports with the resources they need to ensure the safety of their passengers and support the local economy.”
FAA funds include:
- $2,038,092 grant to Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority for the Eugene F Kranz Toledo Express Airport.
- $32,000 grant to Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority for the Toledo Executive Airport.
- $32,000 grant to Wood County Regional Airport Authority & Bowling Green State University for the Wood County Regional Airport.
- $32,000 grant to Lakefield Airport Authority & Mercer County Board of Commissioners for the Lakefield Airport.
The FAA supports public-use airports included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) through the Airport Improvement Program. The program supports projects that improve airport safety, capacity, security and environmental impact. More information about the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program can be found here.
