U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today released the following statement mourning the death of former Secretary of State and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Colin Powell.
“Kay and I are deeply saddened by the passing of former Secretary of State Colin Powell, who also served as the nation’s highest military officer. His was a life marked by distinguished service to the nation — first in uniform, then as a diplomat and public servant. I always appreciated General Powell’s perspective and how he prioritized his long-standing relationships with Congress even when there were differences of opinions. Our prayers are with his wife Alma, their children and all who knew and loved him.”
