[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) hosted a virtual town hall tonight to discuss the COVID-19 vaccine, COVID-19 in kids and how we can best keep our children safe as they resume in-person learning. Duckworth was joined by a panel of experts from Lurie Children’s Memorial Hospital of Chicago to help answer questions, including Dr. John Walkup, MD, Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health; Dr. Ravi Jhaveri, MD, Interim Division Head of Infectious Disease; and Dr. Nina Alfieri, MD, MS, Attending Physician, Advanced General Pediatrics and Primary Care at Lurie Children’s Memorial Hospital of Chicago. This discussion was livestreamed on Senator Duckworth’s Facebook page.

“I know so many parents—myself included—have questions about how we can best keep our kids safe as they return to the classroom,” Duckworth said. “I’m grateful to Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago for helping me answer some of these common questions Illinois parents have.”
