DETROIT, MI – U.S. Senators Gary Peters (MI) and Debbie Stabenow (MI) announced the Wayne County Airport Authority will receive $20,860,485 in federal funding for Detroit Metro Airport. The funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation will be used for taxiway reconstruction.
“Detroit Metro is a global transportation hub, connecting businesses and communities in the state to markets and destinations all across the world,” said Senator Peters. “I’m pleased to announce this federal grant, which will help bolster essential infrastructure and continue servicing travelers for years ahead.”
“Having reliable and safe air service is crucial for Michigan tourism, commerce, and economic development,” said Senator Stabenow. “This grant is an important investment in the infrastructure of Detroit Metro Airport which connects Michigan travelers to destinations across our country and world-wide.”

This Federal Aviation Administration grant will help fund the reconstruction of a portion of Taxiway Y, a critical path to a primary departure runway at DTW.”
