LAKE TAHOE – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) attended the 25th annual Lake Tahoe Summit, a bi-state summit that brings together elected officials and policymakers from Nevada and California, federal agencies, private sector stakeholders, and local community leaders to collaboratively improve the environment of the Tahoe Basin.

“Lake Tahoe is a critical part of our region’s environmental ecosystem and plays an essential role in our economic success,” said Senator Rosen. “By investing in Lake Tahoe, and making sure it remains one of the world’s most beautiful bodies of water, we are also investing in the people who live and work in these communities. I’m proud of the work my colleagues and I have done in Congress to protect Lake Tahoe, and I am proud to continue partnering with this community as we seek to overcome the environmental challenges that this natural wonder faces. Together, we can keep Lake Tahoe pristine for generations to come.”

BACKGROUND: In May, Senator Rosen helped introduce a bill to extend authorization of the Lake Tahoe Restoration Act for an additional 10 years.

Senator Rosen also played a role in the development of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which recently passed the Senate. The infrastructure legislation includes $17 million in funding for the Lake Tahoe Restoration Act.

In 2019, Rosen’s amendment to set aside $4 million for Lake Tahoe invasive species mitigation passed the Senate and was eventually included as part of the end of year spending bill.
