Budget Resolution Includes Senator Hassan’s Bipartisan R&D Amendment to Help Spur U.S. Innovation through R&D Tax Credit

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan released the following statement after the Senate moved forward on the Fiscal Year 2022 Budget Resolution:

“The budget resolution that the Senate advanced today outlines the path forward for addressing the cost of living for Granite Staters and families across America. From providing tax cuts for families to ensuring access to paid leave to lowering prescription drug costs, this budget takes a 360-degree approach to the most pressing challenges facing American families, workers, and businesses.

“There is now much work ahead of us to negotiate the details of the legislation and ensure that it responsibly meets the needs of families and our economy. Throughout this process, I will continue to advocate for the priorities that are most important to families and small businesses in New Hampshire.”

The budget resolution would address important Hassan-backed priorities to support New Hampshire families and small businesses, including:

  • Cutting taxes for families by extending the child tax credit
  • Lowering the cost of prescription drugs
  • Strengthening U.S. competitiveness and providing more support to small businesses
  • Including Senator Hassan’s bipartisan amendment to strengthen the research & development tax credit
  • Investing in workforce development programs and ensuring access to paid family and medical leave
  • Expanding access to affordable care for children, seniors, and individuals with disabilities
