WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $4,871,040 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for Head Start and Early Head Start programs across West Virginia.

“West Virginia’s students deserve access to the resources and programs that put them on the best possible footing as they begin their education,” Senator Capito said. “Head Start prioritizes the children of our state and makes direct investments into our future. I’m glad to see funding headed to our state to support programs like this that help build a critical educational foundation that gives West Virginia’s kids a leg up in leading successful, healthy lives.”

“Investing in education at an early age creates the building blocks for success and benefits all of West Virginia. As a long-time supporter of Head Start programs, I am pleased HHS is investing in three programs across the Mountain State,” Senator Manchin said. “This funding will provide the foundation West Virginia students need to succeed throughout their education, regardless of their background. I will continue to advocate for funding to ensure every West Virginia child has the educational opportunities they deserve.”
