WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded a total of $6,791,932 in advanced manufacturing grant funds to four Ohio businesses and institutions. The projects will center on innovations for manufacturing advanced materials, lowering thermal budget processes to increase industrial efficiency and productivity, and creating flexible and efficient facilities and energy systems. The six awards announced in Ohio are:
- $1,146,330 to Faraday Technology Inc. in Englewood for Novel Coating Technologies for Neutrino Focusing Horns and; $1,146,330 grant to Faraday Technology Inc. in Englewood for Corrugated Feedhorn Arrays by Additive Manufacturing
- $1,150,000 to NexTech Materials, Ltd. in Lewis Center for Conversion of Biogas to Liquid Fuels on Superior Catalysts and; $1,100,000 to NexTech Materials, Ltd. in Lewis Center for Tailored Cathode Chemistry for Next-Generation Lithium-ion Batteries
- $1,100,000 to Tech4Imaging LLC in Columbus for Non-Invasive Operations Tool for Dispatchable Geothermal Wells
- $1,149,272 to Terves, Inc. in Euclid for High Ductility Magnesium Alloy Extrusions
“Ohio companies are leading the way on industrial energy efficiency,” said Brown. “These federal funds will allow us to continue to invest in cutting edge energy technology, so that we’re creating local jobs and improving our economy in a responsible and sustainable way, while developing the next generation of innovative technology.”
The DOE’s Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO) supports research and development projects, research and development consortia, and early-stage technical partnerships with national laboratories, companies, state and local governments, and universities through competitive, merit-reviewed funding opportunities designed to investigate new manufacturing technologies.
