WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced the United States Economic Development Administration (EDA) has awarded $50,000 to ProMedica’s Social Innovations District Feasibility Study in Toledo. The funds will be used to study four main areas including minority- and women- owned businesses, new business creation for non-traditional healthcare solutions, technology innovation, and medical devices. This research will help provide economic stability, create jobs, and strengthen the Toledo economy.

“These funds will provide Toledo with resources to study economic opportunities,” said Brown. “Not only will this investment provide insight on economic issues, but it will lead to more economic growth in the region.”

The EDA is the only federal government agency focused exclusively on economic development. The program is designed to provide financial assistance to communities, and promote economic development.

EDA grants are awarded through a competitive process based upon the application’s merit, the applicant’s eligibility, and the availability of funds.  More information on EDA’s grant process and investment process can be found at www.eda.gov
