CHARLESTON, W.Va. — U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, and member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $62,283,000 in funding for drinking water infrastructure upgrades in West Virginia through this year’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF), funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

“When crafting the infrastructure law in the Environment and Public Works Committee, we made it a priority to provide long-term funding with maximum state flexibility that would help ensure communities across West Virginia and the rest of the country had safe, clean drinking water,” Ranking Member Capito said. “The upgrades and modernizations that will be made to water systems as a result of these funds being disbursed to states will make a key difference for the health and safety of residents moving forward.”

From April 2021: Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Ranking Member of the EPW Committee, applauded passage of the Drinking Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Act of 2021 (DWWIA 2021), legislation she introduced and co-wrote along with Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.), Chairman of the EPW Committee. The Drinking Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Act of 2021 (DWWIA) makes significant investments in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) grant and loan programs, including the Drinking Water and Clean Water State Revolving Loan Funds, or SRFs, and the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) that are vital to support our nation’s water infrastructure.
