Cantwell Statement on Major Judicial Milestone: 100 Judges Confirmed Under Biden Administration, Including 6 in WA

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA), joined the White House in celebrating the confirmation of the 100th federal judge nominated under the Biden Administration.

“We have now confirmed 100 new federal judges since 2021, including six who will serve the State of Washington. It is good to see this Administration’s commitment to rectifying historical underrepresentation on the bench — 76 of the 100 confirmed judges are women, and 68 are people of color. Led by Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first Black woman and the first former federal public defender to serve on the Supreme Court, the judges come from diverse backgrounds, believe in upholding well-established legal precedents, and sit well within the mainstream of American legal thought,” Sen. Cantwell said.

Since 2021, Sen. Cantwell has helped secure six new federal judges serving the State of Washington:
