WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, joined Lauren Simonetti on Fox Business to discuss the U.S. military shooting down a foreign object in Alaska airspace and future U.S.-China relations. Excerpts and full video are below.

On Foreign Objects in U.S. Airspace:

“[President Biden] made the call [to strike the second object over Alaska] he probably should have made over a week ago at the first sighting of the Chinese air balloon. […] I’m so uncomfortable with the fact the rest of the world looks at the United States of America and thinks, ‘let’s go spy on them, they’re pretty easy’ – that’s problem number one.”

On U.S.-China Relations:

“We do need to have greater oversight [of Chinese assets in the U.S.]; I personally believe we need to decouple. We need to look at investments going both ways, we need to empower [the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States] to have more teeth, and we ought to be particularly protecting our critical supply chains like food, pharmaceuticals, critical minerals.”
