Washington, DC – Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement

“It has been almost two months since Azerbaijan initiated its blockade of the Lachin corridor, the only road in or out of Nagorno-Karabakh. This corridor is the lifeline for a community of approximately 120,000 people, including tens of thousands of children, who now face food, medicine, electricity, and gas shortages.

“Unfortunately, this inhumane blockade appears to fit a pattern of destabilizing activities by Azerbaijan’s government that undermines prospects for peace in the region. I call on the Aliyev regime to immediately reopen the Lachin corridor, resume the peaceful transit of humanitarian aid and commerce, and restore freedom of movement to and from Nagorno-Karabakh.”
