WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) met with Brigadier General Jon Stubbs on Thursday. Stubbs is Governor-elect Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ nominee for Adjutant General of the Arkansas National Guard, to congratulate him and discuss ways to work together for the benefit of The Natural State’s military community.

“The Arkansas National Guard has enjoyed tremendous leadership under Major General Penn and I have every reason to believe that will continue under Brigadier General Stubbs,” Boozman said. “His nearly three-decade career in uniform, including most recently at the Pentagon, has provided him the experience to ensure the Arkansas Guard remains able to protect, support and defend our communities, state and nation. I look forward to working with him closely and building on the excellent foundation already in place.”

Boozman and Brigadier General Stubbs meet in the senator’s Washington, D.C. office.

Boozman also praised Sanders’ selection of current Arkansas National Guard Adjutant General, Major General Kendall Penn, as the Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs.

Boozman talks with Major General Penn during a visit to the 188th Wing in 2022.

“Major General Penn is a friend and patriot, and I’m incredibly grateful for his service to our state and the country. He has provided steady, capable leadership that has been instrumental not only to the Guard’s readiness, but also to increasing its national security contributions including the anticipated relocation of the Foreign Military Sales program to Fort Smith,” Boozman said. “I applaud Gov.-elect Sanders for recognizing his ability help oversee the delivery of care, benefits and services to Natural State veterans as part of her administration. I know he will do a fine job working on their behalf.”
