WASHINGTON — U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King and Representative Jared Golden announced this week that the Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) program, funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), awarded $461,500 to improve three airports in Maine’s Second District.
“Whether passengers are Mainers returning from a trip, visitors coming to experience Maine, or servicemembers coming home, airports are important gateways to our state and the country,” said Senators Collins and King and Congressman Golden. “These investments in airport infrastructure will go a long way to improve passenger experience and bring more business to communities across Maine. We’re proud of the positive impact that this bill continues to have on our state’s economy and looking forward to seeing the upgrades at the airport. ”
Among the airports receiving funding were:
- $112,500 for Princeton Municipal Airport for perimeter fencing;
- $45,000 for Stephen A Bean Municipal Airport to mark, remove, and light obstructions;
- $304,000 for Dexter Regional Airport for construction of a new terminal building.
