This funding, which was secured through a Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) request by Senator Capito, will be used to modernize aerospace training with Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) equipment in line with current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards.

In total, Senator Capito secured $241,135,000 in direct spending measures for initiatives and projects across West Virginia through the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 appropriations omnibus package.

“I’m pleased to have secured this funding for New River Community and Technical College, ensuring modernized training for their FAA certifications,” Ranking Member Capito said. “The aerospace industry in West Virginia continues to grow and making sure pilots, crews, ground control, and air traffic control are prepared for future challenges in their careers is incredibly important for the safety of passengers and helps keep our economy moving.”
