WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) joined Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) in introducing the Employee Rights Act of 2023, which reforms labor policies to empower workers and better match the needs of today’s economy. In addition, the legislation establishes critical safeguards for small business owners and entrepreneurs and preserves the independent contractor model.
“This administration’s labor policies have burdened small business owners, discouraged people from returning to their jobs, and impeded individuals’ abilities to choose their desired employment paths,” said Senator Cramer. “In stark contrast, the Employee Rights Act prioritizes American workers, protects small business ownership, and supports the long-term health of our economy.”
“While the Biden administration and Washington Democrats continue to bend to the demands of big labor unions and special interest groups, Republicans remain focused on finding forward-thinking solutions that give our workforce and small business owners stability and flexibility,” said Senator Scott. “We should always resolve to empower and encourage Americans with the ability to provide for their families. I’m grateful to my colleagues for joining me in the fight to protect workers.”
