WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today released his funding requests for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Commerce, Justice and Science Appropriations bill the Senate will consider later this year. Graham requested a combined $4.2 million to help law enforcement officials across South Carolina and support projects that include new vehicles and equipment, information sharing, and upgraded 911 technology.
City of Sumter: $157,000 for a drug and substance analyzer.
Greenwood County: $900,000 for a 911 technology upgrade for the County Sheriff’s Office.
Lancaster County: $770,000 for law enforcement vehicles for the County Sheriff’s Office.
Richland County: $1 million for a unified command post for the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.
Town of Bluffton: $1.34 million for law enforcement equipment.
City of Newberry: $88,000 for improved law enforcement technology and equipment.
Additional Funding Projects Requested by Graham in the FY24 Commerce, Justice and Science Appropriations Bill:
College of Charleston: $1.325 million for the marine resource center.
University of South Carolina: $4.5 million for semiconductor manufacturing.
“I believe it is important that elected officials have a say in how taxpayer money is spent on infrastructure and not rely on bureaucrats in Washington to protect South Carolina’s interests,” said Graham. “The funding requests are public record. Every person will be able to judge for themselves if these are worthwhile requests. I believe these projects are valuable, deserve funding, and will pay dividends for our state for years to come.”
