Cassidy Announces $1.5 Million for Schools, Roads from Infrastructure Law

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will grant Louisiana $1,540,415.00 in funding from the Secure Rural Schools program to support public schools, roads, and other municipal services. The program was reauthorized in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). 

“Every corner of Louisiana benefits from the infrastructure law,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This funding benefits roads and public schools to better the learning experience for Louisiana students.”   

The Secure Rural Schools program disperses a portion of Forest Service funds generated through multi-use activities, such as grazing, timber production, and special use permits, are distributed to eligible counties to help maintain local roads and schools.
