BISMARCK – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), member of the Senate Banking Committee, joined the Western Dakota Estate Planning Council at its monthly meeting, where he delivered remarks on fiscal policy and engaged in a Q&A session with attendees.

“It was a pleasure to participate in such a productive conversation with members of the Western Dakota Estate Planning Council,” said Senator Cramer. “As we navigate an economy marked by high inflation, tight labor markets, and climbing interest rates, financial literacy is arguably more important than ever. Many thanks for the work you’re doing on behalf of North Dakotans and for having me. I look forward to next time.”

Topics of discussion included today’s economic outlook, credit card merchant codes, and the Legacy IRA Act, which became law as part of a larger retirement package last year. In addition, Senator Cramer and member attendees talked about tools to curb government spending; among them is a “return to regular order,” where, rather than pass one comprehensive omnibus, Congress would draft, consider, and approve 12 separate appropriations bills, per longstanding House and Senate rules. The Senator also unpacked priorities like raising the debt limit, preserving and strengthening social security, and advancing his Fair Access to Banking Act.
