WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), vice chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee and its subcommittee on defense, today released the following statement regarding the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2023. Following passage in the House of Representatives earlier this month, the authorizing legislation will now move to the President’s desk for his signature.
“Passing the National Defense Authorization Act is a critical step in the process of providing defense funding and supporting our Armed Forces,” said Senator Shelby. “This legislation sends a powerful message to our adversaries as we advocate for a robust military. I am pleased to have supported this bill and look forward to advancing defense appropriations legislation next week, ensuring our troops will have the training, equipment, and resources needed to carry out their missions. The security of the nation must always remain our number one focus.”
