WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Mike Lee (R-UT), Chairwoman and Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Competition Policy, Antitrust, and Consumer Rights, announced the date and the witness list for the Subcommittee’s hearing titled “Examining the Competitive Impact of the Proposed Kroger-Albertsons Transaction.”
The hearing will be held on Tuesday, November 29, at 3:00 pm ET.
Witnesses will include:
- Mr. Vivek Sankaran – President, Chief Executive Officer, Albertsons Companies, Inc.
- Mr. Rodney McMullen – Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, The Kroger Co.
- Mr. Sumit Sharma – Senior Researcher, Technology Competition, Consumer Reports
- Professor Andrew Sweeting – Professor, Chair Of The Department Of Economics, University of Maryland
- Mr. Michael Needler, Jr. – Chief Executive Officer, Fresh Encounter, Inc.
The hearing will examine the impact of the proposed merger of Kroger and Albertsons, the two largest grocery chains in the country.
