[WASHINGTON, D.C.] — U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), who served two terms in the House of Representatives, issued the following statement after Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced her decision to step down from leadership of the House Democratic Caucus:
“I thank Speaker Pelosi for her decades of leadership. She’s broken glass ceilings and been a true role model for generations of women—including myself. It was an honor to work alongside her for four years in the House. Our party—and our country—is better because of her leadership and service.
“From the Affordable Care Act to the Inflation Reduction Act, her efforts to get historic legislation over the finish line are nothing short of remarkable. I’m glad Congress and the people of San Francisco will continue to benefit from her service to them and to all Americans.”
