JACKSON CENTER, OH – U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) visited Airstream, manufacturer of the iconic “silver bullet” travel trailer, and the longest-tenured recreational vehicle manufacturer in the world, at its headquarters in Jackson Center. During the visit, Senator Portman received a tour of the company’s recently expanded factory floor and new Heritage Center Museum.

After the tour, Senator Portman led a roundtable discussion on the importance of outdoor recreation and conservation. As a Co-Chair of the International Conservation Caucus, Co-Chair of the Great Lakes Task Force, and Vice Chair of the Roosevelt Conservation Caucus, Portman has played a leadership role in the Senate in protecting our natural resources and wildlife both at home and abroad. With Airstream leadership, local officials, representatives from Dayton-area national parks, and the National Aviation Heritage Alliance, Portman discussed his Restore Our Parks Act, which is helping to fund deferred maintenance projects at national parks in Ohio and around the nation, and his bipartisan JOBS Act legislation he is working on to provide Pell Grant funding for in-demand, short-term certificates, which will deliver better skilled and more qualified workers to manufacturers like Airstream.

“Thank you to the folks at Airstream for giving us a tour of their expanded factory floor and museum. Airstream has been a leader in innovation, getting Americans all across the country to enjoy the outdoors with the iconic silver bullet RV, and it was great to see firsthand the continued growth in their manufacturing work,” said Portman. “During our roundtable discussion, we touched on the importance of being outdoors and protecting our natural resources for future generations to enjoy. As an avid outdoorsman myself, I have always enjoyed Ohio’s great natural resources and have made it a priority in the Senate to support Ohio’s parks and wildlife.”
