He was not only an incredible athlete on the field, he was a Kansas City icon who made sure the history of Negro Leagues Baseball was preserved and shared with future generations. Everyone who met him was better for the time they spent together. It is a proud day for Buck O’Neil’s family, the Kansas City community, and baseball fans everywhere as we celebrate his profound impact on our country and our national pastime.”
