WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) issued the statement below following the Senate’s confirmation of Steve Dettelbach as director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF):

“As we continue to work on addressing gun violence and keeping our neighborhoods safe, Steve Dettelbach is the experienced leader we need as director of the ATF – a crucial role that has been vacant for far too long. Following more than two decades in law enforcement, including seven years serving as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, he understands the importance of working with state and local officials to tackle serious, pressing challenges facing communities across the country. Now that he has been confirmed by the Senate with bipartisan support, I look forward to partnering with him as he assumes this critical position.”
