U.S. Sens. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) and James Lankford (R-Okla.) and Congressman Kevin Hern (OK-01) yesterday applauded the official new name for the USPost Office located at 1233 North Cedar St. in Owasso, Okla., the “Technical Sergeant Marshal Roberts Post Office Building,” to honor our fallen hero, T.Sgt. Marshal Roberts.
“With the signing of this bill, we are able to pay tribute to an Oklahoman who bravely gave his life to protect us back home,” Inhofe said. “Technical Sergeant Roberts should be remembered for his heroic actions and I am glad to see his service and sacrifice enshrined as a reminder to those he loved of his commitment to our state and nation. We will not forget him.”
“Our nation remembers our heroes. Technical Sergeant Roberts is one of those national heroes whose actions and patriotism deserve to be forever remembered in his hometown of Owasso,” said Lankford. “This Post Office, now officially named in his honor, will serve as a reminder to his family, friends, and service members of the ultimate sacrifice he gave to keep us safe and protect our freedom.”
“I’m glad to see this bill signed into law,” said Hern. “Sergeant Roberts’ legacy lives on – not only in Owasso, but around our state and nation. Naming the Owasso Post Office after Sgt. Roberts is a small, but important, gesture of our gratitude for his service and sacrifice.”
Inhofe and Lankford introduced legislation in the Senate to rename the Post Office for TSgt. Marshal Roberts, who was raised in Owasso and was one of two Americans killed in action in an overnight rocket attack in Iraq on March 11, 2020, during his service with the 219th Engineering Installation Squadron, a unit of the 138th Fighter Wing of the Oklahoma National Guard.
Inhofe, Lankford, and Hern offered their immediate condolences to TSgt. Roberts’ family after he gave his last full measure of devotion.
