LAS CRUCES, N.M. – On Thursday, June 2, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) will be in southern New Mexico to highlight over $2 million in federal funding he secured in southern New Mexico in the recent Fiscal Year 2022 Omnibus Appropriations Agreement.
At 8:45 a.m. MT, Senator Heinrich will meet with New Mexico state climatologist Dr. Dave Dubois to discuss how $1.8 million he secured is support data collection through the ZiaMet MesoNet Weather Monitoring Network. This this state-wide network monitors surface weather conditions and sub-surface soil conditions and is based out of New Mexico State University.

At 10:15 a.m. MT, Senator Heinrich will visit the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office to see how $350,000 in federal funding he secured for its Rapid DNA program is helping law enforcement reduce crime and increase public safety. Rapid DNA technology allows the crime lab to quickly and accurately identify suspects and victims.
