Davos, Switzerland – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement after President Joe Biden announced on Monday the launch of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), a comprehensive economic plan between 13 countries to expand economic leadership in the Indo-Pacific region and counter China’s growing influence:
“I applaud the President’s announcement of IPEF and his leadership on economic engagement with the Indo-Pacific. This is a good first step, and it is important that the United States join with like-minded allies and partners to improve competitiveness, strengthen global supply chains, and set global standards – including in the digital domain. I look forward to working with the Biden administration to ensure that IPEF meaningfully benefits America’s workers and families, addresses critical energy and climate issues, and helps us meet today’s global economic challenges.”
